The TWRC is a fourteen member citizen-based commission charged with the governance of the TWRA. Their primary statutory duties include the following:
- Appointing and dismissing the executive director of the wildlife resources agency
- Establishing the salary of the executive director
- Approving TWRA’s budget
- Promulgating necessary rules, regulations, and proclamations to effect wildlife management
- Establishing objectives to develop, manage and maintain sound programs of hunting, fishing, trapping and other wildlife-related outdoor recreational activities
- Promulgating rules and regulations to adjust fees for licenses and permits and to establish new hunting, fishing and trapping licenses and permits as deemed appropriate, along with necessary fees
Nine members of the TWRC are appointed by the governor, one by the lieutenant governor, and one by the speaker of the House. The commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), and the commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA) serve on the Commission by virtue of their respective positions. The governor also serves as an ex-officio member of the Commission. Each member appointed by the governor must be confirmed by the House conservation and environment committee and the Senate energy and environment committee and by joint resolution of the General Assembly prior to beginning a term of office.To see the TWRC geographical districts, please click HERE. Mr. Bledsoe is a farmer in Fentress County and is very active in his community. He serves as president of the Fentress County Farm Bureau and is the treasurer for the Fentress County Soil Conservation District. Mr. Bledsoe is an advocate for youth wildlife-related programs and wildlife habitat. He enjoys any type of hunting and fishing along with camping and riding motorcycles. He participates in smallmouth tournaments and has introduced his children to hunting and fishing. He is a Lifetime Sportsman License holder and lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He attended Clark Range High School, Tennessee Tech and Haywood College. He and his wife, Sonya, have two children, son, Ethan and daughter, Ali.

An attorney, Mr. Brown is a partner in the firm of Miller Martin, PLLC. He is a graduate of the University of Chattanooga and the Cumberland School of Law at Sanford University where he received his doctor of Jurisprudence. He is a member of the Chattanooga Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, and American Bar Association. He is a fellow in the Christian Bar Association and Tennessee Bar Assocaition and a Tennessee Judicial Conference trustee. A hunter and fisherman, he is working to improve wildlife resources and conservation for future generations. Mr. Brown and his wife, Judy, have two children and five grandchildren.

Mr. Cannon is president of Cannon & Cannon, Inc. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, American Public Works Association, and the National Society of Professional Engineers. His hobbies include duck hunting, time in the outdoors, working on the farm, and travel. He is a member of Ducks Unlimited. Mr. Cannon looks forward to learning more about Tennessee’s wildlife, fish and land resources and the effort needed to care for and protect them. As a commissioner, he plans to actively participate in conserving, maintaining and enhancing these resources for future generations. Mr. Cannon and his wife, Angie, are residents of Lenoir City and have three daughters (Lauren, Crissy and Jessica) and two granddaughters.

A life-long resident of Henderson County, Mr. Griggs has been the maintenance supervisor for Beech River Watershed Development Authority since 2007. Prior to joining BRWDA, he was vice president/general manager for Griggs Big Star from 1974-2007. Very active in his community, Mr. Griggs has served on the board of directors for the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Association of Southwest Tennessee, and governing board for the Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse. He has served as president of the Henderson County Child Abuse Board and the Lexington Rotary Club. He has served as a volunteer fireman and as a member of the Henderson County Election Commission and E911 Board. He is a member of the 2004 WestStar Leadership Class and serves on its Alumni Board. He has coached numerous youth athletics teams for 29 years and has worked in sports radio. Mr. Griggs has a wife, Paige, two daughters (Mandy Melton and Misty Sharp), one son (Dallas) and two grandsons (River and Canyon).

Dr. McMillin has practiced dentistry in Bristol since 1981. Dr. McMillin has lived his entire life in Tennessee and his hobbies include hunting ducks, turkey and big game, saltwater, river and stream fishing. He also enjoys planting food plots and improving wildlife habitat on his hunting property in East Tennessee. Dr. McMillin is a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Ducks Unlimited, Quality Deer Management Association, National Rifle Association and National Wild Turkey Federation. He also serves as a Region I TSSAA high school football official and has performed medical mission work. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and the University of Tennessee Dental School. Dr. McMillin and his wife, Debbie have two adult children, son, Bart, daughter, Sara, and a son-in-law, Rett Scottstill.

Mrs. Schuster serves as an outdoor marketing consultant, freelance writer, and photographer. She is a member of several associations including Becoming An Outdoors Woman program, Legends of the Outdoors, Tennessee Outdoors Association, National Wild Turkey Association Diamond Life member, National Rifle Association, Quail Unlimited, Ducks Unlimited, and Hunt Staff-Commando Hunting Products. Her articles and photographs have appeared in publications across the country. She was co-host of Outdoor Trail Magazine for four years that was on the radio weekly in Nashville on Saturday mornings. She worked as promotions/marketing manager at the Nashville location of the nation's largest outdoor supplier, Bass Pro Shops, for nine years. Mrs. Schuster and her husband, Darrell, reside in the Cheatham County community of Pegram.

Mr. Teague is a self-employed businessman in Jackson. An avid outdoorsman, he is a member of several organizations including the National Wild Turkey Federation, National Rifle Association, Tennessee Wildlife Federation, Quality Deer Management Association, and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Foundation. He is on the pro staff of Mossy Oak Brand Camo. He enjoys introducing youth to the outdoors and volunteers for youth hunting and fishing charities. He is a board member for the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. A graduate of the University School of Jackson, he attended the University of Tennessee on a football scholarship and earned his degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science. Mr. Teague served as a team captain and was the starting center on UT’s 1997 SEC championship team, earning All-SEC and third team All-America honors. He was drafted by the Denver Broncos where he played four seasons and was a member on the 1998 Super Bowl Championship team. He played in Buffalo (2001-05) and served as team captain and ended his career following the 2006 season with the New York Jets. He retired from a nine-year career in the National Football League to his hometown. Mr. Teague and his wife, Ashley, have two children, daughter, Lilly and son, Everette.

A life-long resident of Carter County, Eric Wright works in purchasing with Mapes Piano String Company. He enjoys coon, squirrel and turkey hunting among his hobbies. He is also interested in wildlife conservation and small game management. Mr. Wright is a member of the Carter County Hunting and Fishing Club, the Stoney Creek Coon Club and the Doe Valley Sportsman's Club. He is a graduate of Unaka High School.
